About

I was born in Ireland. My family moved to Australia when I was seven, or eight. I spent the nineties travelling, before landing in Vanuatu. From there I worked in international development around the Pacific — sometimes as a government advisor, sometimes as a critic.

Somehow I ended up at the UN negotiating table, with a brief to link peace and development. A simple, but highly contested idea that was eventually folded into SDG 16. Part of a global agenda meant to steer us toward a brighter future.

It didn’t.
